Learn the complex art of top-rope soloing with expert Andy King. This two-day course covers equipment, setup, safety systems, and risk management for competent single-pitch trad leaders ready to climb independently.

What is Top-Rope Soloing?

Top-rope soloing allows experienced climbers to practice and train independently on routes with safe top anchor access. This advanced technique requires specialised equipment and systems and skills to safely manage the rope and additional hazards while climbing alone. It's become increasingly popular as a training tool and for accessing familiar routes when partners aren't available.

Two full days (12 hours total) with maximum 4:1 student-to-instructor ratio

Suitable single-pitch crags with walk-off access

Equipment

Specialised top-rope solo equipment provided, though participants are encouraged to purchase their own gear for ongoing use. Preferred equipment list to be provided once booking confirmed. All participants will receive a bungee neck lanyard to keep after the course.
