Falcon's Lookout Rock Climbing Adventure
Adventure Tour: Top-Rope Climbing
Fresh air, real rock, and the quiet satisfaction of doing something you weren’t sure you could. Join a small group for a full day of top-rope climbing, with a guide who looks after the ropes, the gear and the safety systems so that all you have to do is climb. You’ll start on friendly routes, move on to more challenging ones as you warm up, and finish the day with tired forearms and a view to match.

BUSHWALK
Every tour starts with a walk through the bush to the crag. At Falcon’s Lookout it’s about 40 minutes through scenic bushland, and your guide will point out the local plants, wildlife and geology along the way.
WHO IT'S FOR
Most people who book have never climbed outdoors before, and some have never climbed at all. A few are gym climbers curious and want to try out climbing on real rock. Come solo or bring a friend, and you might meet your next climbing partner while you’re at it. Kids are welcome too (see the FAQs).
WHAT YOU'LL DO
You’ll climb a series of top-rope routes on real outdoor rock, matched to your group’s ability. Your guide coaches you through each climb, and everything is voluntary, so you choose how far to go. There’s no rushing, and plenty of time to enjoy it. Reaching the top of a climb and looking back down is hard to beat.
HOW THE DAY RUNS
We meet at 9am and walk in together. Your guide sets up the ropes, runs a short safety briefing and gets everyone moving. You’ll climb, have lunch with a view, climb some more, and we wrap up around 3pm.
LOCATION & MEETING POINT
We meet at the Ironbark Gorge Track Carpark in Werribee Gorge State Park, about an hour from Melbourne. The walk ends at the lookout, with sweeping views over the gorge before the climbing starts. There are no toilets at the crag, and the team can help out in an emergency.
WHAT'S INCLUDED AND WHAT TO BRING
The day is run by an ACIA-qualified guide, and we provide all harnesses, helmets, ropes, climbing shoes and the safety briefing. You bring comfortable, active clothing, closed-toe shoes with good grip that you don’t mind scuffing (runners are perfect), your own lunch and snacks, a water bottle, sunscreen and a hat. A camera is welcome too, and your guide will tell you when it’s safe to use.W
WHAT'S NEXT
If you had fun, you’re welcome to join us again, book your own day out with a guide, or learn the ropes yourself with Top Rope Anchors and Abseiling
FAQs
- Do I need any experience?
None at all. Your guide handles all the technical setup, and you just climb. - Can kids come?
Yes. Please note their ages when booking. All children under 18 need a participating adult, who can be added as a “related participant”. Our guides all hold Working With Children Checks and are experienced from our schools programs. - How fit do I need to be?
Reasonably active is plenty. The walk in is about 40 minutes on uneven ground, so comfortable shoes help. Climbing routes are matched to the group and you climb at your own pace. - Can I come along just to watch?
You’re welcome to, but everyone needs to be booked in, and most reluctant bystanders end up on the wall enjoying it just as much. If you’d rather stay on the ground, your guide can get you involved with belaying. - Can I book for a private group?
Yes. Our Private Guiding page explains how an exclusive day out with your own crew works. - What if the weather turns?
Safety comes first. If conditions aren’t suitable, we’ll reschedule and give you as much notice as possible.
